CITec Survey is an integrated system for the condition survey and assessment of reinforced concrete structures on corrosion damages.

By the combined measurement of different physical and chemical data the corrosion behaviour can be interpreted and assessed much more precisely than by measuring just single parameters such as rest potentials. Furthermore, the reinforcement layout and structural damages of the concrete can be visualized and numerically evaluated. Thereby the results of non-destructive testing and conventional survey are being added and united.

The measurement data are related to reproducible coordinates in a grid of 60 x 60 cm and can be compared between different parameters and measurement times. The data base has an open design and can be customized.

CITec Survey supports the assessment of corrosion damages in a new quality, makes connections visible and offers a best possible decision base to the qualified user for the determination of the very complex processes of reinforcement corrosion and for an appropriate maintenance design.

The following data can be measured, inserted, displayed, analyzed and distributed in different numerical and graphical ways (item (special feature): input):

  • data of the structure (list of administrative data): manually
  • data of the structural part (list of e.g. concrete composition data): manually
  • reinforcement (reinforcement scan from HILTI Ferroscan): manually, csv- and bmp-import
  • minimum concrete cover (detection scan from HILTI Ferroscan): manually, csv-import
  • open circuit potential (vs. 3 reference electrode systems): manually, online, csv-import
  • surface resistivity: manually, online, csv-import
  • temperature: manually, online, csv-import
  • carbonation depth (vs. 2 spray indicators): manually
  • chloride content (for up to 5 levels of adjustable thickness): manually
  • concrete humidity (for up to 5 levels of adjustable thickness): manually
  • rebound values – Schmidt hammer (with median calculation due to EN 12504-2): manually
  • concrete strength: manually
  • delamination areas (in 0.1 m² steps): manually
  • spalls (incl. depth, in 0.1 m² steps): manually
  • cracks (incl. crack width): manually
  • documentation (bmp- and jpg-files): link
  • information (comments for all instances): manually

CITec CeControl
CITec CeControl is the program for controlling and regulating an optimal Chloride Extraction process from reinforced concrete. Basing on data imported from CITec Survey, the rehabilitation process can be planned, configured and surveilled centrally. Coincidentially, the required measurement and regulation will be done locally. A documentation file stores all events and measurement data of the extraction process and gives best reliability and a visible high quality.

With CeControl, an industrial network system controls the Combination Electrodes, and the related structural part can be treated in individual sections of 60 x 60 cm.

Combination Electrode
The patented CombinationElectrode is a complete functional unit for mounting it on the concrete surface. It has a size of 60 x 60 x 5 cm and is to be fixed by a centrally placed plug-thread rod. This makes a rapid mounting and dismounting for service means possible. Besides the technological units for the Chloride Extraction it has got switches and sensors for the process controlling, which can be used by CITec CeControl. The CombinationElectrode makes an individual, optimal rehabilitation for every structural section possible and considers the different material conditions down to a small scale.

Components for the Chloride Extraction:

  • Glass fleece layer as electrolyte reservoir and for connecting to the concrete surface
  • Ion exchanger for absorbing the Chloride ions
  • Anode (dimension stable electrode)
  • Cover layer (mounting layer and evaporation protection)

Components for the process control:

  • switch at the voltage bus system
  • connectors for measuring voltage and current behind the switch
  • reference electrode
